TADA! COOKING SHOW PRESENTS: 7 LAYER CHIP DIP!!

It’s week 3 since the launch of TADA! Cooking and the kids are pumped more than ever to share this week’s kid-friendly recipe…7 LAYER CHIP DIP! To be honest, the only hard part about this recipe is going to the store and gathering all the ingredients (i.e. where the heck is the aisle with refried beans?!) The rest is super fun and easy to make, especially if everyone does their own version. It’s almost like food art :P.

What you’ll need:

1. Bottom Layer: Refried beans in a can (I secretly used the Jalepeno version and the kids didn’t even notice! And yes, I know I’m a terrible mother for sneaking that in, but I also had a back up plain version in case they flipped out)
2. Second Layer: Hummus mixed with taco seasoning. This recipe traditionally uses sour cream, but I opted for hummus because it’s healthier (and tastier in my opinion!)
3. Third Layer: Guacamole
4. Fourth Layer: Chunky Salsa…the chunkier the better!
5. Fifth Layer: TONS of shredded cheese! We used Monterey Jack because it’s awesome
6. Sixth to Whatever Layer: Toppings of your choice (sliced tomatoes, chopped green onions, and sliced black olives)
7. CHIPS!!!!

This recipe is super customizable to whatever your tastebuds are digging at the time. It’s also great to make for pot lucks, Sunday football gatherings, rainy days, birthday parties, and maybe even a first date. I think the kids favorite part was being able to spread each layer themselves and decorating. My favorite part was eating everyone’s creations! Sometimes it will look great and sometimes it’ll look questionable. But guess what? It should all taste the same once you start chewing!

As always, you can’t go wrong with the recipe and we, the TADA! Cooking staff, would love to see what you end up with. Good luck!

Cheers,
THM

  • Omg Rosie! This is my favorite cooking video ever and I watch a lot! ? Seriously Austin & Callie need their own cooking show! Pretty sure food network would take them now. And totally agree with Kira – this needs to be sent to Ellen & GMA! I laughed out loud several times ?

  • This is legit the cutest thing ever. I showed it to my son-who is too young to begin cooking adventures himself-but he did ask for chips, hummus and guacamole so I think the message was well received. Can’t wait to see the next one!
